I’m over Ranbir: Deepika 26 Aug 2010 - 155 Views - Sahil
She may seem reserved, but Deepika Padukone admits she's competitive with everyone, friends and co-actors she dates included
You are known to be very intuitive about your work. Does that intuition guide all your decisions? Absolutely. There's always a hunger in me to try something new, or to play a role like the one I have in " Lafangey Parindey"– of a visually impaired girl. That said, this was also the kind of role that needed a certain khullapan, you know, a certain confidence about your own self, which brings about freedom to do things like this. People usually say that I am very reserved and very shy, so I found this to be particularly challenging in that respect. Read More...

I don’t want to burn out so young, so soon, says Deepika Padukone, because in her line of work, it’s very easy for that to happen
How irritating is the media focus, the prying into your life all the time – since you aren’t someone who grew up with the flashbulbs in your face? Initially, it took me a little time to get used to how it functioned, but now I’m used to it. I understand that there is a need for people wanting to know. My basic philosophy is that if you understand why anything in life happens, then half your problems in life are solved. If you understand why the media asks the sort of questions they do, if you understand why certain situations happen – understanding situations makes you happier as a person, lets you deal with those situations in an easier manner. Deepika Padukone, attired in an elegant shift dress, is the centre of attention at the coffee-shop of a five-star hotel, as she makes her way between tables. After a quick apology for turning up late, she darts across to greet a prominent director before finally settling down for the interview.
A picture of poise, stardom sits easy on the 23-year-old actress who seems neither overcome nor intimidated by it. Padukone puts this down to her upbringing. "My dad always taught me never to let success or failure affect me."
It would be fair to say that the box-office fate of her movie has not affected Padukone's popularity either. Nor for that matter the growing competition in the GenerationNext segment. Read More...

Deepika Padukone is really well brought up. A day after I had invited her for a coffee and chat on the couch, she sent me a thank you text saying, what a wonderful host I was and that she had a lovely time. I was charmed. Not just a pretty face but well mannered. But my training on the couch has taught me not to take things at face value and always dig deeper. There had to be more to the thank you text than just appreciation and good manners. Oh come on, I'm not a cynic just a realist. Read More...

Because of the fact that I interacted with people across the country, I am very confident now. It taught me to be responsible and independent.
